Uttara Kannada police have issued an appeal to general public, asking them not to panic about alleged harrasment by micro finance company officers or agents.
Superintendent of police M. Narayana said in a release that the district police were committed to protecting the people of the district. He said steps were being taken to resettle families that had left their villages owing to fear of harassment by micro-finance companies.
He said police officers were holding meetings of micro-finance officers and agents in all police station limits and warning them against use of coercive means to recover loans.
