The Chief Wildlife Warden is expected to issue the order for the purpose later in the day.
Mr. Saseendran explained that the first course of action would be to attempt to capture the tiger using a tranquiliser or a trap in accordance with the standard operating procedure under the Wildlife (Protection) Act. However, if these measures fail, and the tiger is confirmed as a man-eater, the final resort would be to shoot and kill the animal.
Vigilance urged
He urged heightened vigilance in both the immediate vicinity and the surrounding forest areas of Pancharakolly. A rapid action force will be deployed.
The Minister said patrolling in the region will be intensified, considering the potential risk posed by tigers and other wildlife, including elephants, which may be migrating into Wayanad from the neighbouring Bandipur region in Karnataka.
