HBO has kept details of the movie tightly under wraps, even releasing a snow-covered version of the script’s cover with its title obscured. In addition to directing, Armstrong serves as the film’s writer and executive producer, marking his first project since Succession wrapped its critically acclaimed four-season run in 2023.
Francesca Orsi, HBO’s Head of Drama Series and Films, expressed enthusiasm about working with Armstrong again, calling his latest project a “bold examination of modern greed, power, and male ambition.” She added that Armstrong’s transition to directing will “elevate what is already thrilling on the page.”
Reflecting on his move to the director’s chair, Armstrong acknowledged the high expectations. “I’m intrigued to discover whether being around so many brilliant actors and directors on Succession has in any way rubbed off on me. Let’s hope so,” he said, thanking HBO for their support in assembling what he described as a “dream team” of cast and crew.

The untitled film is executive produced by Succession veterans Frank Rich, Lucy Prebble, Jon Brown, Tony Roche, Will Tracy, Mark Mylod, and Jill Footlick. Armstrong, a seven-time Emmy winner, is best known for his writing on Succession and his Oscar-nominated screenplay for In the Loop.
