Central University Vice-Chancellor Battu Satyanarayana has said that the university will be a leading institution in the country and the only one in the State outside Bengaluru to have access to NMR facility.
âOnly a few institutes in India, including the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), possess sophisticated 600 MHz NMR instrument. All the university stakeholders should leverage this new resource to conduct high-quality research and produce scholarly publications. Postgraduate students will now have the opportunity to publish research articles as part of their thesis work,â he said.
Retired IISc scientist and visiting faculty member in the Department of Chemistry Ragothamma stressed the need for making advanced facilities available to the public.
âWe should invite researchers and potential pharmaceutical ventures in the Kalyana Karnataka region to make use of the NMR spectrometer to support innovation and industry development. Kalyana Karnataka region is now home to this advanced instrument, making it a unique asset for the area. I request the stakeholders to take complete advantage of the instrument for collaborative research, particularly in the development of medicine to benefit humanity,â he said.
Consultant engineer Istalinga Mahagonkar, 600 MHz NMR instrument coordinator Konkallu Hanumae Gowd, Dean and Head of the Department of Chemistry Venkata Ramana Doddi and others were present.
