Man arrested on charge of killing his brother in family dispute 

The accused, identified as Jayaraj, 27, reportedly attacked his brother Jayaraman, 23, with a sickle in the early hours of Sunday.

The accused is son of late Jayapal and his wife Rashya and brother of Jayapradap, 25, and Jaya. Jayaraj and Jayaraman worked as welders and lived in nearby houses in Dhiyanapuram while Ms. Rashya and Ms. Jaya lived in another house close by. Mr. Jayapradap works for a private company in Coimbatore.

Tension escalated between Jayaraj and his wife Danalakshmi over a domestic issue. Jayaraman intervened in the quarrel and supported Ms. Danalakshmi. This angered Jayaraj. Efforts of Ms. Rashya and Ms. Jaya to calm down Jayaraj failed. In the early hours of Sunday, Jayaraj allegedly Jayaraman with a sickle and the latter died on the spot. The Tiruvarur taluk police have registered a case and arrested Jayaraj on charge of murder.
