Implementation of the Fourth Women’s Policy of GOM requires a women-centered approach in its action plan: Vice-Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe’s appeal at the Stree Aadhar Kendra capacity building session

Pune/dnyanpravah news, 25th January : On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a discussion session was organized today (25th January 2025) on the eve of India’s Republic Day by the Stree Aadhar Kendra . The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Neelam Gorhe,Vice- President of the Legislative Council and Chairperson of the Stree Aadhar Kendra Dr.Gorhe provided guidance on how the issues mentioned in the 4th Women’s Policy announced by the Maharashtra Government can be practically implemented for the benefit of women.A group discussion was also conducted on this matter.

In this program, two resolutions were presented by Dr.Neelam Gorhe and were unanimously approved. The first resolution highlighted that the Domestic Violence Prevention Act of 2005 is still not being implemented, and it calls for timely preventive action against the husband of the victim.The second resolution emphasized the formation of Women’s Vigilance Committees at the beat level to ensure active participation of women.

Through the collaboration of various organizations working on women’s issues and the members of the Women’s Support Center, in-depth discussions were held on the 12 themes of the 4th Women’s Policy, focusing on women’s issues and possible solutions, and these discussions were documented.
A detailed discussion was expected on women’s issues, the work done by members, challenges faced, government policies, schemes, and flaws in their implementation. This initiative has been started through the Stree Aadhar Kendra Pune and Dr. Neelam Gorhe encouraged the participants to document and present the conclusions from the group discussions.

Dr.Gorhe also emphasized that society is failing to provide justice to the victims of violence and urged organizations working against women’s violence to actively pursue justice at the government level.
She further stated,The current government has played a vital role in stopping violence against women. The Ladki Bhagini Yojana has provided much-needed support to women. Various women-focused organizations have certainly contributed to this effort.”
The primary aim of this discussion session was to underline the severity of violence against women, raise awareness about it and take necessary steps to ensure women’s safety and equal rights.

Prarthana Sadhavarte, Aparna Pathak,Anita Shinde, Shobha Kothari, Shiv Sena Pandharpur district chief Arti Baswanti, Ashlesha Khandagale,Anita Pardeshi, Suvarna Kamble,Rakhi Shingvi, Mangal Patil,Mangal Sonatake,Anita Pardeshi,Shubhangi Jagtap, Kalpana Awad, Nanda Ubale, Renuka Naik, Rekha Kadam and members of the Women’s Support Center, as well as representatives from various social voluntary organizations.
