Four children dead, woman rescued as she jumps into river with them in Vijayapura

The woman named Bhagyashree Ningappa Bhajantri of Telagi village in Kolhara taluk jumped into the canal with her four children.

Fishermen and the public who were there noticed this and rescued her. But her two daughters five-year-old Tanushree and three-year-old Suraksha and 13-month-old twin sons Hassan and Hussein died.

The bodies of the twins are yet to be retrieved.

The police said that the woman was upset over a domestic dispute.

Personnel of the Fire and Emergency Services, Circle Inspector of Police Ashok Chavan, Sub-Inspector of Police and police constables of Nidgundi Police Station went to the spot and launched a search for the bodies. They were assisted by fishermen and village residents.
