Addressing the media after casting his vote with his family at a polling station on Mosuvanna Street in Erode, he said, the byelection necessitated by the demise of Congress legislator E.V.K.S. Elangovan was âa natural one and not an imposed one.â
âIn north Indian states, the BJP forces MLAs to resign and conducts byelections in those constituencies. However, here, there is no discontent among the voters regarding the byelection,â he said.
Mr. Chandhirakumar said that he, along with Minister for Housing and Urban Development S. Muthusamy, had campaigned by walking 140 km across 33 wards within the Corporation limits, directly interacting with voters. âThere is no dissatisfaction among the electorate regarding the governmentâs performance. They have put forth certain requests, which we will fulfill,â he said.
He noted that, typically, after four years of governance, some level of dissatisfaction arises among the people. âHowever, we did not observe such sentiments among the voters,â he said, expressing confidence in securing a massive victory.
The candidate also emphasised that welfare schemes have effectively reached the people, stating, âThis will ensure our resounding victory.â
