Coringa police arrest 119 cockfight organisers, seize 112 roosters, ₹9.87 lakh cash


In a major operation, the Kakinada district police conducted raids on a cockfight arena at G. Vemavaram village, under Coringa police station limits, and arrested 119 organisers and punters.

Police seized ₹9.87 lakh cash, 112 roosters, five cars and 21 bikes from the spot, said Kakinada District Superintendent of Police G. Bindu Madhav.

On receiving information that cockfights were being organised in a mango garden, the team led by Kakinada Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Manish Devaraj Patil, Coringa and the special party police conducted raids and arrested the accused on Sunday night.

The accused, along with the seized material would be produced in the court, and the roosters would be handed to the Veterinary department officials for taking necessary care, a police officer said.
