The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has successfully migrated its Automatic Vehicle Location System (AVLS) data from a temporary cloud set-up to the Karnataka State Data Centre (KSDC), ensuring enhanced digital infrastructure for commuters, according to BMTC officials.

The migration was completed at midnight on January 31. “BMTC has also rolled out an upgraded version of its mobile application, ‘Namma BMTC,’ offering improved real-time bus tracking and a more seamless user experience,” a senior BMTC official said.

The updated app now enables live tracking of over 5,200 BMTC buses, including the latest BS6-compliant and electric buses. This ensures that commuters receive real-time updates on bus locations and expected arrival times.

“With the migration to KSDC servers, the app benefits from enhanced data security, faster processing speeds, and improved uptime, making tracking more reliable. The interface has also been redesigned for better navigation, allowing users to plan their journeys more efficiently,” official explained.
