On January 31, Mr. Nadda had condemned the incident and constituted the panel comprising Rajya Sabha member and former Director-General of Police of Uttar Pradesh Brij Lal, BJP’s Scheduled Caste Morcha national president Lal Singh Arya, former Union Minister Som Parkash, BJP’s national spokesperson Guru Prakash Paswan, Uttar Pradesh Minister Aseem Arun and party leader from Ambala (Haryana) Banto Dev Kataria.
The panel visited Amritsar on Sunday for conducting the inquiry and submitted the report to Mr. Nadda on Thursday.
Earlier, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale had demanded the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the incident. The Congress also sought an unconditional apology from the State government, while Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of negligence.
The Punjab Chief Minister had said that no one responsible for the incident would be spared. The State police registered a case and arrested some miscreants.
