West Delhi MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat said, “I am from a Jat family and am married into one. The entire Jat community has been disrespected by AAP, which never felt the need to raise the issue over the past 10 years it has been in power in Delhi, and is now raising the issue only to do politics.”
A day earlier, Mr. Kejriwal had accused the BJP of “cheating” the community in Delhi by not adding it to the Central government’s Other Backward Classes (OBC) list “despite multiple promises”. The AAP chief said that he had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue.
In response, the BJP MP said, “Merely writing a letter to the Prime Minister doesn’t give reservation to a community.”
BJP leader Kuljeet Singh Chahal said Mr. Kejriwal is “suddenly interested” in the issue because he knows that the Jat community is supporting the BJP in the upcoming election.
