Asian markets traded lower on Tuesday following overnight losses on Wall Street amid sell-off in technology stocks. Concerns over the emergence of a low-cost Chinese generative AI model DeepSeek fuelled selling in tech stocks globally.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 declined 0.67% while the Topix dropped 0.36%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index futures indicated a higher opening.

Several Asian markets, including Taiwan, South Korean and Chinese markets, are closed for the Lunar New Year holiday.
